2002

Research

 

  • Neuro music protocols utilized with multiple children in various agencies in the Chattanooga area.
  • Research results proved efficacy of neuro music protocols and gave go-ahead for initial development of specifications to automate specific techniques to software.

2003

Start-up

 

  •  MTGIC is incorporated as a non-profit organization in the state of Tennessee.  Start-up 501(c)3 status is completed.
  • Research continues in using neuro music protocols with special needs children.

2004

Software development

 

  • Software development is initiated with a kick-off meeting of all agencies and educational groups in the Chattanooga area who support children with special needs.
  • Version 1 of software utilizes techniques for sensory perception and attention control training.  Testing shows that development using standard ASP language development is unsatisfactory and software revision in JAVA language begins.

2005

Lab creation

 

  • Grant received in partnership with University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to create musical laboratory to conduct research in neuro music protocols with clients in the Chattanooga area.
  • Software is updated to run from a .NET platform using JAVA technology.

2006

Software release

 

  • MTGIC software released in beta form to parents of children involved with initial research as well as to Orange Grove Center of Chattanooga.
  • Software advocacy discussed at national meeting for American Music Therapy Association.

2007

Concert series

 

  • Concert series initiated to expand awareness of concert hall patrons of how music can positively influence the therapeutic environment.
     
  • Permanent 501(c)3 status confirmed.

2008

Training

 

  • Grant received in partnership with Orange Grove Center to train therapists across the Chattanooga area in neuro music protocols.
  • Initial 3 day training session is completed for therapists.  Future plans include half-day training sessions in 2009 for parents and educators.
